My last blog dealt with the administrative review option as it pertains to former Michigan residents pursuing drivers license reinstatement Michigan. This blog will focus on the live hearing option for former Michigan residents living in other states.
Former Michigan residents living in other states have two options when pursuing drivers license restoration Michigan: an administrative review and/or a live hearing. It is not an either or option: opting for an administrative review will not preclude your right to a live hearing. You may first request an administrative review and if that is not successful, you may then request a live hearing. If you request the hearing within the time specified by the Secretary of State (currently 20 days), then you will not have to resubmit your information that you base your administrative review on. However, you would have the option of providing additional information for your live Michigan drivers license restoration hearing or completely submitting new information.
If a live hearing is requested for your drivers license appeal Michigan, then you will be expected to appear in person in Michigan for a live hearing in front of the hearing officer. The hearing officer will decide the outcome of your case. There are three live hearing locations: Livonia in Metro Detroit, Lansing or Grand Rapids.
You are encouraged to consult with a Michigan drivers license attorney about your case and which option is most appropriate for your case. It is important to remember that each case is different and what works for one person may not work for another.
